Jarlaath is the original founder of Penumbra. After following an oboe training in 1996, he decided to create a metal band integrating oboe as a main instrument. He is the first known artist to have used oboe in metal compositions.

Since the beginning, he is the leader singer with death and black vocals. Jarlaath is the main composer and song writer of the band.
